As the petals reach for the light, the raindrops settle on them. The overcast skies, suppressing their true beauty, the reflections. They wait for a sunburst so they can shine, glisten.
This macro shot was made with a Nifty Fifty lens, and a wide aperture. The drops were the subject against the soft petals.
The leaves are almost gone, in their final color, then the wind comes. Each of the branches more bare with each gust. Soon they will be bare, asleep for the winter and preparing itself for the spring when they awake again.
As it flows into fall, the overcast skies give perfect light for some macro shots. The light is soft, the rain leaves gorgeous droplets on leaves, and the leaves themselves are changing colors and creating beautiful backdrops for these types of shots.
This week, walk into your yard and create a daily story TTL using macro techniques. Just don’t get your gear wet!
