As we looked through the trees, the smoke rose from the chimney. The warmth could be felt where we stood and we knew we had to take shelter. The temperature was continuing to fall and we were hungry. Not sure what we were heading into, we began to run. It would be only a matter of time before they found us, so we had to hurry.

When it’s cold outside, snowing, the heat draws you in like a moth. Gently settling in, warming your bones, it doesn’t matter what causes the heat, just that it’s there. You can hear the crackling of the wood in the silence. Mesmerizing.
