It seems cold, heartless. The gloom that hangs overhead is thick, just waiting for its next victim. Only those with the most innocent of hearts will withdraw at the end of the day. But it’s Saturday and today it rests.

And here I walk by it every day and have never found it the least bit sinister or creepy. I can even see it from my desk. Maybe it’s the bronze critters in the fountains around it. Of course its surrounded by construction fencing now, so I’ll have to give it another look when they get done.

They are mainly restoring the site walls and fence, and some stone restoration on the building. https://www.gsa.gov/portal/content/158014
